The accommodation and the food was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The places we stayed at were all amazing with lovely gardens and birds visiting the grounds. I have so many photos, it will take awhile to sort through them but I will try and get a few on Facebook over the next couple of weeks.
Great birding holiday in Costa Rica with an incredible bird guide, Henry, and a wonderful friendly & safe coach driver Millor. Lodge accommodation and food were great, very Eco friendly. Could not recommend more highly.
Was a nice touch that Alfredo met us at the airport on departure to say farewell as it was a surprise he was not leading the tour but Henry proved so excellent, and fun, that this was not a problem at all.
We were really impressed with the accommodation in each location, great for ‘door step’ birding but also relaxing although sleep was at a premium with early starts (but as expected). We even got used to rice and beans for breakfast, lunch, dinner ….

My perception towards Costa Rica Wildlife photography has changed completely after this trip. Every day was very busy and very productive day, not wasting a minute of opportunity. And, the most interesting part I liked was we explored all possible life forms including lesser mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and not restricting ourselves just to birds. Thanks a ton to @Alfredo who had been throughout guiding us with great details of each and every species as well as places. Extremely informative, which is exactly what I was looking for in any wildlife tour. Thanks a lot to Haimer (our driver), who had been tirelessly driving us everywhere with a pleasant smile, and was always available and ready. Not but not the least, the team was fantastic with like minded people. I thoroughly enjoyed the company and every minute of the trip. I have to say, amazing spotting skills you have. Hope we meet again!

Costa Rica is a must do trip before you die.
We did a 12 day birding trip with Mr Alfredo of wild bird tours.I have been birding for last 15 years and this was one of the three great birding tours I have done. The hotels he selected for us were very good. The food was excellent. His planning of the whole itinerary was perfect. His knowledge is superb. He takes care of the minutest details .

Alfredo Scott made our first birding experience in Costa Rica even better than we could have imagined! We saw so many beautiful birds that we could not have found without his knowledge and skill and determination. Everything on our tour was well planned and we had great accommodations in each area we visited. We also enjoyed learning about this beautiful country, the people, plants and animals and much more through Alfredo’s wealth of knowledge. We look forward to birding there again soon.
We have been thinking of you and wanted to wish you many blessings in 2024. Hope you have been keeping well and that you enjoyed your time visiting your daughter. We are so glad to have met you. We have so many wonderful memories of being in Costa Rica and of the fantastic birding with you. Thank you again for that time! We are hoping to get back to see some more sometime in this next year.

We want to thank you, once again, for all the competence and wisdom you revealed in organizing and running our trip, in November 2023.
Both planning and improvisation (when necessary) were decisive in achieving the objectives we had set.
Your perfect understanding of our preferences — namely, finding good conditions for photographing, rather than filling out a long checklist of birds — allowed us to optimize our stay in Costa Rica.
We also appreciated everything we learned from you, not only about birds, but also about the country, its people and its culture.
We hope that we will meet again in the near future.

More than 240 species of bird, 13 mammals, countless amphibians, reptiles and insects (and I can’t begin to describe the diversity of the flora) on a fabulous fortnight’s trip in this stunning country. The accommodation was great, as was the food; the itinerary was varied and interesting; and the organisation flawless. Alfredo was the perfect guide, driver and host, and we learnt so much more about his amazing country from him than just about its flora and fauna (about which his knowledge was exceptional). A truly memorable trip. Best wishes,

I know its a while since our tour but wanted to say a huge thank you as everyone had such an amazing time, they are still talking excitedly about it. They all thought you were a great guide.
It was delightful to visit so many beautiful places which had so much wildlife and superb birds. Everyone is saying how different all the places were and how good they all were, the whole tour had the perfect mix and it was fantastic!

Finished two back to back groups to Costa Rica. It was my first trip out of the subcontinent so I was a bit worried about the logistics etc but luck favours the brave and I got a very experienced and talented local guide cum tour operator who took care of all the visitors perfectly. Both the groups enjoyed watching birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and landscapes of Costa Rica without a single glitch in the trip.
One can see birds anywhere, any time of the day and without binoculars as well. It was 50 percent feeder photography and 50 percent in the forest. Used multi flash set up also for hummingbirds and bats and did macro photography of amphibians as well.
A must do destination for every birder who can afford it. No visa requirements for people having a US visa otherwise one has to get a Costa Rican Visa. Tourist friendly country with various food options for non-vegetarian people and Rajma Chawal (Gallo Pinto) for vegetarians. I have finished
my quota of Rajma Chawal for next one year. Spanish is the main language there and very few people in hotels can speak English. Spotted 386 species of birds, 18 species of Mammals and 22 species of Reptiles and Amphibians. Didn’t get time to process the pics. Almost 500 good pics per day was average during the trip.

We both enjoyed the trip enormously. Your guide Vernon was excellent, very easy to get along with and his ability to recognise bird calls and then to be able to find the bird in the deep cover was extraordinary and led to us finding some amazing birds. Being only the two of us we were able, with Vernon’s help, to tailor the trip to what we wanted which was to see and photograph the birds. He was also a mine of information and helped me enormously on the workings of my camera, enabling me to get some outstanding photographs.
The lodges were great and their settings wonderful. The food was also good and we especially enjoyed going to the bird feeding stations where we could get up close to the birds. One of the highlights was our visit to Casa Downii where we were cooked a delicious meal using traditional ingredient. The transport was also very good and it was nice to be able to explore different regions of the country.
On the down side, we were surprised that the itinerary had changed, not that that was a problem but it would have been nice to know in advance and had we been given the new itinerary with the name of the hotel we would be staying in for the first night
Please do not feel that we did not enjoy the trip, we did, and once the Hotel collected us, everything was wonderful. We will definitely recommend Costa Rica as a birding paradise. Will you be at the bird-fair this year? If so and we manage to get their ourselves we will see you there.
Thanking you

I congratulate him because he is a great professional. From the beginning the communication with him was fluid and easy, he immediately understood what we wanted and offered us just what we were looking for in a surprisingly fast way, which I cannot say about any of the other agencies I contacted.

But it does not stop there: the service we received, both by him and by Luis the the driver, his closeness, kindness and unlimited patience, his ability to locate the birds, his knowledge about them, their songs, the amount of information received about the nature, culture and history of Costa Rica… has far exceeded any expectations and has turned this trip into a wonderful experience.
It is not easy to manage a group of 11 people, and even less so having them all happy all the time, how it has been. And it is easy to reach the figure of 342 species, also having quality in the observations, the whole group can enjoy them and stop to photograph them.
I repeat, and I speak on behalf of everyone, thank you very much for an unforgettable trip.

Rica. At the suggestion of a friend we hired Alfredo Scott as our guide.
We couldn’t have made a better choice. Alfredo transformed what without
doubts it would have been a beautiful trip, in an extraordinary trip that
we will treasure forever.

As a biologist I was very interested in the fauna part, but each one of the group had a different expectation, and Alfredo adapted to each one of them. Beyond learning a lot about each animal or plant that we saw, he advised on other activities, all amazing, and he got adapted perfectly to the rhythms of the group, to get the most possible from our trip.
Not only do we take from Costa Rica incredible experiences and landscapes of daydream. Now we have a friend there too, and we will certainly come back for continue sharing experiences with Alfredo and his wonderful country.

Now that we’re back in Philadelphia I’d like to thank you once more for orchestrating such a wonderful birding experience for us in Costa Rica. I must admit that I was a little hesitant at first, because our birding credentials nowhere near matched those of your other client groups. But you told us that you’d design the program according to our needs and you certainly delivered. We were blown away by your depth of knowledge, but more important, your ability to share it; by the end of our trip I believe that our skill level had moved up several notches – we could have aced the test!
Other clients have documented the amazing number of birds they encountered on their trips, so I don’t need to do that. But I should mention that all the logistics were flawless: lodges; ground transporting; pre-trip information, birding lists. Also, a word about our on-site guides – Eric, Kenneth, Cope – it was a real pleasure to meet all three.
As our first post-COVID trip outside the US, it couldn’t have been better. A wonderful introduction to Costa Rica; hope to be back.

Our trip to Costa Rica was booked in summer 2019 with Alfredo who organised our itinerary and guided us throughout.
The 4 of us from the UK spent 14 days in Costa Rica from 07 to 21 March 2020, visiting most of the regions of the country and walking several kilometres per day in mostly forested or semi open habitats. We also took a coastal river boat trip and made 2 visits to the Pacific coast.
The accommodation and locations were superb, as was the food and drink. Alfredo was great company and demonstrated remarkable skills in finding and locating birds by call, observation and knowledge of their habitats. Alfredo also displayed an impressive knowledge of Costa Rican ecology in general.
He also quickly tuned into our birding style and humour and we all had a great time and agreed it was a fabulous experience. Our final tally was 434 bird species, 16 mammals, 4 amphibians and 9 reptiles as well many butterflies and dragonflies.
A truly memorable trip and we highly recommend Alfredo if you want the best of Costa Rica’s wildlife experience.
Many thanks Alfredo (Top Man!)

We arrived back in the UK yesterday morning (39 degrees F).
On behalf of the four of us from the UK we want to thank you for organising
the fantastic trip for us. We all appreciated the amazing time we had and
the wildlife we saw.
Tavi was an excellent guide and we cannot praise him too highly. The trip
total of 364 species was, I believe, a record number for 2 weeks. My own
personal total of 340 far exceeded my expectations and included 231 lifers.
Once again, many thanks for everything.. See you at August’s Birdfair hopefully.

Many thanks for your expertease and patience in providing a really good tour of Costa Rica, we all enjoyed the experience. The organisation was impeccable and everything worked to plan. Carlos did a great job in looking after us and getting us to all of the target destinations and showing us some fabulous birds and other wildlife along with the history and geography of the country. There was only one fault: we did not see all the birds! That is the course the reason to return! It would be interesting to combine a trip to both Panama and Costa Rica.
Many thanks again for your great organisation and delivery of our trip.

Our final species count was 426 of which 229 were lifers taking my life count to 2.212 so I am super happy with the birding results. We were very happy with the trip you organized for us and most of the places you arranged for us to stay.
You: Excellent birder with a broad knowledge of the Costa Rican ecology.. We appreciated your flexibility and the way you involved us in selecting activities by explaining the options to us.We also enjoyed our talks about a wide range of topics. Your relaxed easy going approach made us very. comfortable.
Carlos: Excellent birder with a very good knowledge of the flora and fauna. We appreciated how hard he worked for us and his ability to locate species we had not see. He works well with the local people and thus is able to obtain information about local birding opportunities. His temperament is more variable which makes him seem less approachable but he always willingly helped us whenever we asked for his assistance. All of you were very helpful and accommodating. We had a great time, enjoyed meeting you all as you are all nice guys who love birding and your country.

I want to tell you how much I enjoyed my recent trip to your country. I saw 260 bird species in 10 days, which is a record for me and yet the whole trip was relaxed and well paced. I appreciated the fact that we stayed for 2 nights in most places and went to a restaurant for lunch every day.
I think Carlos (our guide) himself would admit his shortcomings as a bird guide but he is probably the best tour guide I’ve ever met. His wide range of knowledge regarding history, geology, economics & culture expanded the trip from just being about birds into one that was about Costa Rica. It also caused a number of us to concentrate on bird identification rather more than we might have done otherwise. Definitely a good thing.
Together with Luis, Carlos was always flexible, humorous and enthusiastic and both of them took very good care of us.
I expect I shall see you at the Bird Fair later this year and would have no hesitation in joining another of your trips and recommending you to other bird watchers.
Regards and best wishes to you all.

Thank you for showing us your beautiful country, from the bird life to the people and culture. We take a piece of Costa Rica with us in our hearts. You already have two new friends on the Island of Enchantment and we hope to see you very soon either in Puerto Rico or Costa Rica because we still have a lot to see and learn about your wonderful nation. Many blessings to you and your families, and may you continue with your excursions allowing other people to have the privilege of enjoying the Costa Rican beauties.

Hi Alfredo,
Thanks again for a very productive and memorable trip. You’re a great guide for wildlife photographers/“birders”!
Thanks for telling us about Lesson’s motmot on the hotel grounds. We found one before lunch and at least two more in the late afternoon. We chased one of them from tree to tree for about half an hour, but we finally got some good shots as the light was fading.
Oregon. March 30th, 2018
I have heard from the others and they all spoke about what a wonderful time they had on the trip. I cannot thank you enough for putting us on the birds as you did, and modifying the itinerary given the constraints of our initial itinerary.
It would not surprise me in the slightest if we return in the next year or so to take in more of the scenery and birds – especially knowing that others have expressed an interest in Panama, too. It’s an easy flight from Birmingham via Atlanta.
I have been looking at my photos these past several days and am amazed at the diversity and bounty of the bird life in Costa Rica. Several friends have said they want to see photos, and soon, so I’ll be processing them pronto!
Many thanks,

Alfredo,
Just wanted to let you know how much Mark and I enjoyed out time in Costa Rica and you made it all happen! I cannot believe we saw all these birds.
We are now looking at our pictures and it is a wonderful reminder of our trip. I have just finished looking at my pictures from the 25th and 26th and I am just amazed at the birds! I have almost 20,000 pictures to go through
Hope your Audubon tour is working out.

Alfredo, back safely in the UK.
Already missing CR. The weather here, is, of course, cold and wet whereas yesterday in San Jose, when we left, it was warm with clear blue skies. As I say, I must be a rain god!
Can’t thank you enough; a wonderful week, amazing birding, true expertise and good company. We are already planning our next trip.
Many thanks again

In 2014 we visited UK Birdfair and had the very good fortune to meet Alfredo Scott there. He introduced himself and gave us some information on Wildbird Tours. We did some research and were impressed with the look of his tours and found they compared favourably with those offered by all the other companies. We emailed Alfredo our requirements and he arranged absolutely everything for us in Costa Rica.
During January 2016, we enjoyed with him a superb birding experience over 11 days. The lodges he chose were specifically picked for the best birding opportunities and they did not disappoint. We saw 270 different birds including the elusive Resplendent Quetzal.
Alfredo was a very personable guide with a perceptive understanding of all of our requirements. He was very patient and responsive throughout and spent time with us every evening reviewing species seen and photographed earlier during the day. His attention to detail was excellent and this holiday and birdwatching experience ranks up there with the best we have ever had. We cannot recommend him enough.

We arrived back home to uk, late yesterday afternoon. So by the time we arrived home, we were all very tired.
On behalf of us all, a very big thank you for organising and guiding us on this trip.
We all enjoyed it immensely.
We packed a lot in on this trip, and saw some great birds. We now have to sort out all of the photos. We will send you a few of the better ones! I will also send you
some “Twitter” info’ as soon as I get a chance.
Once again, many thanks.
