Want to see a Quetzal?
If you want to see or photograph Quetzals you should visit Savegre Valley in Costa Rica.
This is one of the best places in the World to see Resplendent Quetzal and righ now they are quite active building nests and feeding the youngs. The bird makes altitudinal migrations looking for the wild avocados, its main source of food.
In other countries Quetzals are harder to find because they move lower or higher in elevation looking for the avocados. But in this region avocado trees are abundant and the Quetzal stays in the area all year round. Check the pics I recently took and you see male Quetzals carrying protein and avocados to feed the chicks.
The beetle in the photograph is a Jewel Scarab in the genus Plusiotis, another beauty of the tropical forest.
I invite you all to contact me if you want to come to Costa Rica for birding or taking photographs, birds and wildlife in general. We have been organizing nature trips for over twenty years.
